Volunteer Opportunities
Birth Doulas
Doulas will be teamed up with refugee women, attend 3-4 prenatals, provide support during birth, and provide 1-2 follow-up visits postpartum. No certification needed. Two doulas are teamed up with one woman so they can have a shared call schedule for births. |
Postpartum Doulas
Postpartum doulas provide in-home support after a mama has her baby. Postpartum doulas may help with the following: meals, childcare, housework, breastfeeding, newborn care, and running small errands. No certification needed. If you are a mom, postpartum doula, or have experience with any of the things mentioned about this may be for you! |
Childbirth Classes
We plan on offering childbirth classes 2-4 times a month. Join our team of childbirth educators in preparing refugee women for their birth and providing support during their pregnancy! |
Mama Baby Group
Help run a postpartum and breastfeeding support group. If you are a mom with breastfeeding experience, postpartum, lactation consultant, or other birth worker this may be for you! |
Childcare
We are planning to offer child-care during the pregnancy support group/childbirth classes and are looking for at least 2-3 women who can commit to 1-2 times a month. If you can't commit regularly but would like to be on-call for when we have a need please contact us. |
Interpreters
We are in need of interpreters to translate during childbirth classes. Ideally it would be someone who is already working in the birth world or is familiar with pregnancy and birth terminology. Although we currently don't know what languages we will need to interpret, Swahili, Arabic, and French are anticipated. |
