Labor Support
Our labor support program is a volunteer-based doula service where doulas are teamed up with refugee women and provide support during labor and birth. Doulas attend 3-4 prenatal visits with their client prior to birth and are on call for whenever she goes into labor. Doulas play an important role in helping refugee women navigate the health-care system as well as providing the continuity-of-care aspect that women may or may not receive from their hospital care providers.
Research is showing that support from a doula during labor can make a significant difference in a woman's birth experience. Women who have been supported by a doula report less painful labors, feeling more in control of birth, less anxiety after birth, feeling of increased self-confidence, and a lower incidence of postpartum depression. What a gift to be able to offer this service to our mamas!

Mom and Baby Group
The need for support does not end after birth – postpartum comes with its own challenges. We offer a Mama and Baby group where women can connect with other new mothers and receive support including breastfeeding support, newborn care questions, referrals to community resources and friendships. The Mama and Baby Group location TBD.
It is our hope to also provide postpartum doula services in the future. Women would receive in-home support with newborn care, cleaning, care of other children, and meals, allowing women to rest and bond with their newborn.
